The important local Taoist festival - Burning of the Wang Yeh Boats, held every three years in southern Taiwanese communities to ward off disease. Many people volunteered to donate funds to build the boat, procure goods to be loaded onto the boat and perform to honor the gods and their clan. Every house opened the door and arrange a worshipping table in front thereof. And there are cold drinks offered for free for the pilgrimage folks. Founded in China, such belief and tradition can only be found in Taiwan nowadays. This was taken when the “sailors” spreading ghost moneys while people pulling the boat from the temple to the place to be burned.
